Referring to Gibson Orthotics

Gibson Orthotics is a specialist orthotic practice based at Little Village Kyalami, Johannesburg, serving patients across Gauteng.
We welcome referrals from physiotherapists, occupational therapists, paediatricians, neurologists, orthopaedic surgeons, general practitioners, and other allied health professionals.
We operate with a multidisciplinary mindset

We communicate findings back to referring clinicians with consent, are available for clinical discussion, and can attend or contribute to MDT meetings for complex cases. Our goal is to function as a seamless extension of your patient's care team, not as a separate silo.

How to refer?

Send a referral letter or contact us directly A formal referral letter is appreciated but not required for the patient to book.
For medical aid pre-authorisation, your referring letter (including diagnosis, ICD-10 code, and motivation for orthotic assessment) is typically required by the scheme.
You can email referrals to the practice or have your patient bring the letter to their first appointment.

Patient books directly Patients can book online at gibsonorthotics.com or by calling 064 526 1585.
No referral is needed to secure an appointment
The patient can book independently once you have advised them to seek an orthotic assessment.


Assessment and report Following the initial assessment, we provide a written clinical summary to the referring clinician (with patient consent).
This includes findings, orthotic prescription, treatment goals, and wearing schedule.
We are available for phone or email discussion for complex cases.

Ongoing MDT communication 
For patients with complex neurological or paediatric presentations, we actively participate in MDT communication.
​We can attend case conferences, contribute written reports for school-based support plans, and coordinate with therapy teams on wearing schedules and functional goals.
